Report on Backside of Race Track

Liberty Hill met with Pastor Harris in June to discuss needs for the Backside of the Race Track Ministry. There are three major areas of concern:

Food Pantry

Bedding

Clothing for Winter

It is our hope that with the support of our sister churches in ABC, we will be blessed to take care of each of these needs. The preliminary plans for each area are identified below.

Food Pantry

This is an ongoing concern. We hope to keep the food pantry stocked with enough food to provide for at least one entire season. By the 5th Sunday in August, we would like to be ready to stock the pantry for the coming Fall season. Food items may be delivered to the Backside of the Race Track (Beulah Park) on Sunday August 29, 2010 after 1:00 pm. If you are unable to deliver the food on the designated Sunday, please contact us to make arrangements for delivery on the Friday or Saturday prior to Sunday the 29th. We will assist with pick up, as needed. Arrangements may be made by using one of the contact numbers or email addresses listed at the end of this document.

Food items suggested for the pantry:

Beef Stew

Canned Tuna

Ramen noodles

Hearty soups

Corn tortillas

Rice

Chili with beans

Beef Stew

Peanut Butter

Jelly

Powdered Milk

Canned vegetables

Other items needed for food pantry:

Small refrigerators (new or used)

Small microwave ovens (new or used)

Coolers of any kind or size

Styrofoam coolers

Bedding

Once the Food Pantry is stocked, we want to move to the other two identified areas. Our focus for October Mission Sunday will be to help prepare for colder weather. Since those using the bedding may need to transport the items with them as they move from one work location to the next, bedding that is easily folded and carried would be beneficial. Items suggested:

Folding cots

Camping cots

Padded exercise mats

Blankets

Clothing for Winter

This area is also part of the October focus. We would like to be in a position to provide clothing that is new, not used, and protects against winter weather. Items suggested:

Gloves

Long Johns

Under shirts

Under shorts

Sweatshirts

Waterproof parkas

We appreciate your interest and participation in this missionary work. As God continues to bless us each day and provides us the opportunity to be a blessing to others, we ask for His continued guidance. We hope you will respond with an acknowledgement that your church will participate and provide us with contact names, phone numbers and/or email addresses.
